‘Call Me By Your Name’ Director Defends Casting Straight Actors in Gay Roles

In a new interview, Luca Guadagnino, director of the Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name, defended casting straight actors Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer in gay roles, and his decision to forgo full-frontal nudity.

Guadagnino responded to the latter when reminded of criticism from screenwriter James Ivory, saying Ivory was “tone deaf” about how to tell the story.

ICYMI: ‘Call Me By Your Name’ Director Says Timothée Chalamet, Armie Hammer on Board for Sequel

Said Guadagnino: “Nobody who knows my work can say to me with a straight face that I’m shy about male or female or other gendered nudity. So, the critique or note that James gave was, in a way, devoid of pragmatism or a relationship with the movie itself. My question to him is does this movie need full frontal male nudity. I don’t think so. It doesn’t.”

“Maybe the script which he wrote – which was a draft which then I reworked with my editor – was compelled to tell this story through the perspective of a very expositionary kind of nudity,” Guadagnino added. “But that would have been his idea of the movie which, unfortunately, we haven’t seen… so I don’t know.”

As for casting straight actors in gay roles, Guadagnino replied, “I honestly don’t believe I have the right to decide whether an actor is straight or not. Who am I to know what somebody is thinking of himself or herself within themselves.”

Guadagnino added that he doesn’t ask actors “to swear on their sexuality, identities, and desires” before casting them.

“If I have to cast what people think is the real thing for a role, I wouldn’t be able to cast,” the director continued. “I cannot cast a gay man to play Oliver. I have to cast Oliver to play Oliver because the identities of gay men are as multiple as the flowers in the realm of earth. So, there is not a gay identity. One person who is gay is completely different to another person who is gay.”

“The beauty of acting is the possibility of the creation and embodiment of new selves through the art of acting.”

Let’s Understand the Mechanism of Enzyme and Enzyme Inhibitor

fisticuffs A team of scientists from the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center has developed the first druglike compounds to inhibit a key family of enzymes whose malfunction is associated with several types of cancer including an aggressive form of childhood leukaemia. The enzymes  known as the nuclear receptor binding SET domain NSD family of histone methyltransferases  have long been an attractive drug target but efforts to attack them have previously proved elusive because the shape of the binding sites in these enzymes makes it difficult for druglike molecules to bind to it.

Our study which was years in the making demonstrates that targeting this key enzyme with small molecule inhibitors is a feasible approach says Cierpicki an associate professor of biophysics and pathology at UM. The teams lead compound BT5 showed promising activity in leukaemia cells with the NUP98NSD1 chromosomal translocation that is seen in a subset of paediatric leukaemia patients casino spelen.

These findings will facilitate the development of the next generation of potent and selective inhibitors of these enzymes which are overexpressed mutated or undergo translocations in several type of cancer. Smaller amounts of a certain enzyme are associated with the ability to run longer and conducted according to a new study in mice. The enzyme called prolyl hydrolases 3 or PHD3 was linked to the ability of a person to run a longer distance in a given time news the scientists say. Scientists perform of enzyme circulating mechanism to reporter PHD 3 in the muscles of mice according to findings published in Nature Chemical Biology. Our covalent lead compound BT5demonstrates on-target activity in NUP148NSD2 leukaemia cells

The crystal structure of NSD1 in complex with covalently bound ligand reveals a conformational change in the autoinhibitory loop of the SET domain and formation of a channel-like pocket suitable for targeting with small molecules. Here we employed a fragment based screening strategy followed by chemical optimization which resulted in the development this web page

Investigation Discovery is airing a three-part special titled A Deadly Dose, which is examing the 2015 death of Susan Winters at her home in Henderson, Nevada. Her husband, Gregory “Brent” Dennis, has since been arrested for murder.

The pair seemed to be very successful from the outside, they had two teenage daughters, and Susan was an attorney and part-time judge in North Las Vegas. Dennis was a psychologist operating a clinic in Boulder City.

However, something very serious was wrong with their marriage.

On January 3, 2015, Susan Winters consumed a lethal amount of prescription painkillers and antifreeze at the home she shared with Dennis and their two teenage daughters.

Based mainly on information supplied by Dennis, the Clark County coroner put Susan’s death down as a suicide. However, Susan’s parents never accepted the suicide ruling and pushed law enforcement to examine the case more closely. They also filed a civil suit against Dennis.

Police began investigating Gregory Dennis in Susan Wilkins death

The case was reopened in late 2016, and the police subsequently learned that Dennis had been battling a cocaine addiction that was draining his finances. Investigators also discovered that he stood to inherit $2 million on his wife’s death, which included a $1 million life insurance policy.

They concluded that Dennis was guilty of murder, and he was arrested and charged in February 2017, just a little over two years after his wife’s death. He walked free a few days later after posting $250,000 in bail.

A few months after Dennis was arrested, the coroner changed the ruling on Susan’s death from suicide to undetermined.

Dennis was indicted in February 2017, but his trial has been postponed until September 2020.

Lewis Daynes was the baby-faced killer who lured 14-year-old Breck Bednar to his apartment so he could murder the teenager by slashing his throat. The two had met through an online gaming community, and Breck’s parents had tried to warn the police about Daynes.

Natasha White’s relationship with Zachary Sanders had ended badly. When the pair argued at a bar one night, she then tried to run him over with her car, but he escaped injury. Nine days later, White tried the stunt again; this time, she killed her ex-boyfriend.
