Quibi teams with esports giant FaZe Clan for gaming competition series

Short-form streamer Quibi has teamed with esports organization FaZe Clan to launch the gaming competition series FaZe Up (w/t).

Produced by entertainment and sports media company Whistle, FaZe Up will utilize interactive mobile technology to offer six Quibi subscribers the opportunity to play their way onto the FaZe Clan roster.

Six contestants will be selected and voted upon by the Quibi audience for their shot at gamer glory. The six lucky competitors will then travel to the FaZe Clan mansion in Hollywood to undergo a series of real-life and gaming challenges, until one gamer — selected by FaZe — is left standing.

FaZe Up is directed by William Silva Reddington with Harrison Nalévansky as showrunner. Executive producers include FaZe Clan, Nathan Gaines, Dennis Lisberger, Nalévansky, Mike Basone and Charles Segars.

“We have had an incredible partnership with FaZe and couldn’t be more excited to take it to new heights with this show, especially on a unique platform like Quibi,” said Michael Cohen, president of Whistle, in a statement. “Whistle is all about incorporating our fans into our content and so the fact that the Quibi audience gets the ability to participate and immerse themselves in this experience is a truly perfect fit.”

“Over the past 10 years, FaZe Clan has not only contributed to the growth of the gaming lifestyle and the esports community, but we have broken barriers and are not afraid to disrupt the status quo,” added FaZe Clan head of content Oluwafemi Okusanya. “In 2020, we plan to do the same with content creation and media distribution. The FaZe Up show represents our next chapter in content creation with our first premium production effort and in collaboration with innovative partners like Whistle and Quibi.”

Quibi launches April 6.

Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson Introduces His Adult Daughter Phyllis, 45, From Affair in the ’70s

Sharing her side. Phil Robertson’s adult daughter, Phyllis, opened up about meeting the Duck Dynasty alum for the first time after finding out he is her father.

When Phyllis, 45, found out through a DNA test that her siblings were only half-siblings, she did “a little digging” with the help of her husband, she said on the Sunday, May 31, episode of the “Unashamed With Phil Robertson” podcast. After narrowing her paternity down to a few possibilities, Phyllis visited Robertson’s church.

“I was nervous,” she said. “I sat out in the parking lot, thinking, am I really going to do this? … [Once inside], I thought, how cool is it that the first time I’m seeing my dad, he’s preaching the gospel? That to me was like, ‘That’s a cool dad.’”

The reality star told his long-lost daughter that she was “the best thing that ever came out of” his past when they met. And now that Phyllis also has met her half-brothers — Al Robertson, Jase Robertson, Willie Robertson and Jules Robertson — they haven’t experienced any “awkward” interactions.

Phyllis explained, “It was just like puzzle pieces clicking into place. It was like I’ve always known you, in a way.”

She added that she calls Phil’s wife, Kay Robertson, her “special mom.”

Phil shared a podcast clip via Instagram on Friday, May 31, gushing about his daughter and wife. “Phyllis, I’m glad you found me, and I’m glad I found you,’” he wrote. “Miss Kay, I’m glad you stayed with me to see how it all worked out.⁣”

The Louisiana Tech University graduate revealed on May 28 that he found out he has a daughter from a 1970s affair. “Dad didn’t remember anything, no specifics about it. It was interesting because Mom remembered a lot more than you did,” Al, 55, recalled during the podcast episode at the time.

He added, speaking to his father: “Finally … you said, ‘Well, is there any way we could know for sure?’ And I said, ‘Yep, we can do a DNA test together. She does it up there, you do it down here. We do it with the same company, and we can know whether it’s a match or not.’”

When the test showed a “99.99 percent match,” Phil invited Phyllis to Louisiana to meet him and his family members.

His daughter wasn’t a fan of Duck Dynasty before meeting the cast members, she revealed on Sunday. “I had no preconceived ideas, really. I tried to watch a couple episodes,” Phyllis explained. “It felt like that’s not what I want my first impression to be.”

Twitter Is So Upset at Evan Peters for Sharing a Video of Police Tackling Protestors

  • American Horror Story actor Evan Peters retweeted a video of someone laughing as police chased and tackled a protestor.
  • Twitter called him out for sharing the disgusting video.
  • He has since deleted the tweet from his feed and posted a black square, seemingly in an attempt to show support for Black Lives Matter.

Update: As he was being dragged all over the internet, Evan hopped back online to try out a different statement.

“I don’t condone the guy watching the news at all in the video which I have deleted. I unknowingly retweeted it,” he tweeted. “I’m deeply upset it got on my newsfeed. I sincerely apologize if anyone was offended. I support black lives matter wholeheartedly.”

Evan has yet to comment on whether or not that support includes anything more than a black square Instagram.

    Original article:

As many Americans continue to be incredibly brave and protest in support of Black Lives Matter and call for an end to police brutality, Evan Peters is over here enjoying watching the police chase them down. It’s disgusting, and Twitter is rightfully dragging him for it.

This afternoon, Evan retweeted a video of someone laughing and cheering as police chased and tackled a “looter.” (The video is horrifying, so we won’t be sharing it here.) As soon as Evan retweeted the video, his fans started flooding his mentions to tell him how disappointed and upset they were. There were quite a few hilarious jabs at his breakup with Halsey too.

He deleted the retweet shortly after, and while everyone was dragging him, he took to Instagram to post a black square. Which, I guess, is supposed to be his way of apologizing and showing solidarity with Black Lives Matter. But it’s hard to tell because he didn’t add any kind of explanation.

Ultimately, though, it feels like he’s trying to take the easy way out of having the difficult conversations about anti-racism and the consequences of sharing videos of the nature that he did. Evan did not use #BlackLivesMatter, so, luckily, his post shouldn’t clog the feed for people who are actively looking for resources and ways to help.
