The Buffalo Sabres Captain Jack Eichel is celebrating his 23rd birthday today, let’s take a look back at some his best moments as a Sabre yet.
It feels like just yesterday the Buffalo Sabres took Jack Eichel second overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. Captain Jack is now in his fifth season as a member of the Buffalo Sabres and has only gotten better each and every time he is out on the ice. Here are some of Jack Eichel’s finest moments as a member of the Buffalo Sabres.
First Career Hat Trick
Jack Eichel’s first (and so far only) career hat trick came on December 15th, 2017, in a 5-4 OT loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Eichel said after the game that he was “feeling it” on that specific day. The hat trick was probably one of the few Sabres highlights from the 2017-18 season as outside of Eichel’s feat, it was a season to forget. Still, Captain Jack gave Buffalo something to cheer for every now and again.
Named Buffalo Sabres Captain
Before the 2018-19 season began, Eichel changed his jersey number from 15 to 9. During that same period, Eichel was named the Captain of the Buffalo Sabres after Buffalo had gone a season without one. Considering that Eichel signed a 8 year contract just the year before, showed that everything Buffalo has planned for the future, starts with Jack Eichel.
100th Career Goal
At the end of the 2018-19 season, Eichel accomplished his 100th career goal. With Captain Jack being only 22 at the time, Sabres fans have dreams of Eichel one day reaching 500. While 500 isn’t guaranteed, 100 is a great start and in a forgettable 2018-19 season, Eichel gave us something to remember right at the end.
Happy birthday Jack Eichel, and thanks for all the memories. Here’s to all the ones that are yet to be made!
