After the Thanneer Mathan Dinangal actress Anaswara Rajan posted a picture in an off-the-shoulder top and shorts on her social media handle, the actress was flooded with slut-shaming comments. She was abused for her “inappropriate” dress code at the age of 18.
Well, the young diva gave a fitting reply to the haters by sharing a few more pictures of herself in shorts and she wrote “Don’t worry about what I’m doing. Worry about why you’re worried about what I’m doing.” Several actors including Nimisha Sajayan, Surabhi Santosh and Divya Prabha aextended their support for Anaswara in the comment box too.
The actress’ response to haters has triggered a interesting campaign on social media leaving several top Mollywood actresses posting pictures of themselves showing off their legs with the hashtag #WomenHaveLegs. Rima was the first to extend her solidarity with the Anashwara. The actress shared a throwback picture of herself in a swimsuit showing off her well-toned legs. She captioned, “Surprise surprise!!! Women have legs #ladies #showthemhowitsdone.”
Following her, actors Anarkali Marikar, Ahaana Krishna, Anna Ben and Kani Kusruti took to their respective social media handles to express their solidarity with Anaswara Rajan by posting pictures of them showing off their legs.
“Show em off girls ! They’re yours !”, wrote Anarkali Marikar. Meanwhile Ahaana wrote a lengthy note, “Posting a really nice picture of me wearing a tiny dress , showing most of my legs to take attendance of the number of creeps who will line up in attention in my comment box to post third-rate comments 🙂 2 things.
Firstly , what I wear isn’t your business. What anybody wears isn’t your business. Your business is just your business. Probably you don’t have enough of it , so you try and poke your nose into other people’s business. I will wear Shorts , Sari , Shirt or a Swim-suit .. it’s not your license to question my character. Neither is it my oppurtunity to prove my own character. So , WATCH YOUR THOUGHTS , NOT MY CLOTHES ??
Secondly , as far as I know .. legs , stomach , hands etc .. they are all the same, be it in the body of a man or a woman. I can’t see any difference that is so important that it justifies the difference between the kind of comments that make it to the comment box of a man in little clothes and that of a girl. If a man shows his well toned body , it’s Inspiring , Mass and Frickin’ Hot. When a girl does the same , she looks like she’s ready for Sex? She’s Shameless? She’s an Attention Seeker? She’s trying to turn people on for work?
Pick up this flamboyant display of patriarchy and discard it in the first dust-bin you can find around you. Me posting a picture in a super short dress has only 1 meaning – I like that picture and I felt like sharing it on my own social media profile. Any other meaning that you derive out of it is nothing but a reflection of the unfortunate situation of your life and the things you lack in it.
Gross mindsets might not change way too much. But the license to publicly speak out one’s gross mindset can be shut down. Call out slut-shamers. Call out dirty patriarchy. And stop giving a damn about what a random person has to comment on your clothes. Do these 3 things and slowly but surely , creeps who want to say creepy things will be so scared to spit out the poison that they will learn to keep it within themselves.
I’d like to sum up this slightly long post with a quote I read recently on Social Media – ” Oh my favourite season will be the Fall of Patriarchy ?? “.
Bigg Boss 14: Tinaa Dattaa debunks participation rumours with a note, ‘I still love you but as an audience member and not a contestant’
Bigg Boss 14 is going to stream on Colors from October 4, 2020. Fans of the show are damn excited for the same. Yesterday, one of the Khabris gave out the names of confirmed contestants. Names like Nishant Singh Malkani, Sara Gurpal, Eijaz Khan, Jasmin Bhasin, Naina Singh, Nikki Tamboli, Pavitra Punia, Jaan Kumar Sanu and Rahul Vaidya were on the list. And even the name of Uttaran actress Tinaa Dattaa was there. Today, Tinaa Datta took to social media to clarify that she is not a part of the show. She wrote that her phone has not stopped buzzing since the news broke out. Tinaa Dattaa says people are coming to her for wadrobe collaborations and what not. However, she says she loves the show just as an audience.
Yesterday, Kavita Kaushik also denied that she is a part of the show. The FIR actress said that she is conducting Kundalini yoga classes in the month of October. Salman Yusuff Khan has already shot a part of the introductory sequences for the grand premiere of the show. The channel is keeping everyone in quarantine.
However, the big attraction is going to be the presence of former contestants like Sidharth Shukla, Gauahar Khan, Monalisa and Hina Khan. All of them are hugely popular with lovers of the show. They have finished shooting for their promos already. Sidharth Shukla was the winner of Bigg Boss 13, while Gauahar Khan won season 8. They will have special powers and stay there for a couple of weeks. Tinaa Dattaa’s co-star from Uttaran Rashami Desai was a part of Bigg Boss 14. She took the fourth place. Ayushmann Khurrana makes it on Time’s 100 most influential list, Deepika Padukone praises his journey
One of the much-loved actors of the industry Ayushmann Khurrana has time and again impressed his fans with his performances ever since his debut in the year 2012. Ayushmann’s contribution as an actor to bring about social change through his films has been hailed by the most reputed global publication – the TIME Magazine. Ayushmann has been judged as one of the most influential people in the world by TIME, which has featured him in the most coveted and prestigious ‘Time’s 100 most influential people’ list of 2020. Some of the other global artists to feature in this list are music sensations Selena Gomez and The Weekend, the visionary director of Parasite Bong Joon Ho, Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag fame and Michaela Coel, British actress who became a rage across the world for the visionary show I may Destroy You.
To mark the achievement of these celebs, other stars write a brief for them and for Ayushmann the role was played by actress Deepika Padukone whose essay was shared on TIME’s website. Deepika wrote, “I remember Ayushmann Khurrana vividly from his debut film, Vicky Donor. He had, of course, been a part of the entertainment industry in various other ways for several years before that, but the reason you and I talk about him today is because of the impact he has been able to create through memorable films and iconic characters. Where male protagonist roles often fall into the trap of stereotypical masculinity, Ayushmann has successfully and convincingly transformed into characters who challenge those very stereotypes.
In India, with a population of more than 1.3 billion, only a tiny percentage of people see their dreams come alive, and Ayushmann Khurrana is one of them. You’re probably wondering, How? Talent and hard work. Sure, that goes without saying. But more important, patience, perseverance and fearlessness. A little insight for those who dare to dream.”
Ayushmann is among the only three global actors featured in the TIME list of influentials. Five Indians have been featured in this list, including Ayushmann. The others are Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minsiter, Sundar Pichai CEO of Google and London based Indian origin doctor Ravindra Gupta, who found a cure for AIDS and Bilkis – Dadi of Shaheen Bagh. Ayushmann is the youngest Indian to be featured in this year’s TIME Magazine.
Ayushmann says, “I’m truly humbled with the recognition that TIME has bestowed on me. As an artiste, I have only looked to contribute towards bringing a positive change in society through cinema and this moment is a huge validation of my belief system and my journey. I have always believed that cinema has the power to bring about change by triggering the right conversations among people and society. Hopefully, through my content choices, I have been able to contribute towards my country and countrymen.”
Ayushmann has worked in films like Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Andhadhun, Badhaai Ho, Article 15, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Bala and lastly in Amazon Prime Video’s dramedy Gulabo Sitabo.
