Kate McKinnon Returning to SNL for Season 46 After Inking New Deal

Published

on

Another year, another bullet dodged by Saturday Night Live: Emmy-winning cast member Kate McKinnon has inked a new deal to return to NBC’s late-night institution for its upcoming 46th season, TVLine has learned.

In fact, sources confirm that, for the first time in recent memory, SNL‘s entire ensemble will remain in tact when the show returns (in studio vs. virtually) on Oct. 3.

McKinnon’s initial SNL pact expired in May 2019 but, in a move that surprised many, she extended her contract for an additional year, through Season 45. Her decision to stick around for Season 46 comes weeks after NBC handed a straight-to-series order to a limited series about Netflix breakout Joe Exotic, in which McKinnon is set to star as the Tiger King’s nemesis Carole Baskin.

It remains unclear if McKinnon will miss any SNL episodes to shoot the Joe Exotic series, which is reportedly slated to begin production in early 2021.

McKinnon’s legendary impersonation of onetime presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on SNL earned her two Emmys for Oustanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (in 2016 and 2017). In her ’16 acceptance speech, she thanked exec producer Lorne Michaels “for giving me the job of my life,” adding, “You know, it’s really hard making 90 minutes of sketch comedy every week for 42 years.”

McKinnon debuted as a featured player on Saturday Night Live in April 2012, before being promoted to a full-time cast member the following season.

The ‘WandaVision’ Trailer Got A Ton Of Views In Its First 24 Hours

The first-ever all-virtual Emmys may have gone way better than it should have, but ingenuity did not result in boffo ratings, sending the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted affair into an all-time ratings low. Still, there was one thing involved with it that got a ton of eyes: the trailer of Marvel’s show WandaVision, which bowed during the broadcast before dropping online and Hoovering up a shockingly high number of clicks.

As per Deadline, one estimate postulates that in the first 24 hours, after debuting Sunday night, the WandaVision ad was viewed 53 million times. The same source claims that broke a very specific record: drawing the most views for a streaming service ad spot in history (which is to say in the last ten years or so). If accurate, that’s on par with the splashy Super Bowl commercials for the likes of Avengers and Fast and Furious movies.

WandaVision is being sold as a genre-bending, ambitious brand of superhero content, reuniting lovers Wanda Maximof, aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), who was killed by Thanos at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and not in the way that he could come back like almost everyone else. The show is reportedly set after the events of Endgame, and it finds the two…trapped in what looks like a ‘50s sitcom? Before moving from black-and-white to color? The trailer is odd but intriguing and we’ll find out what on earth is going when it premieres in December on Disney+ — the first of a slew of Marvel shows heading there, among them The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, and more.

You can watch (or rewatch) the trailer below:

Amy is the Director of Trending Content at LittleThings. After graduating from Florida State University with a creative writing degree, she moved straight to New York City to pursue a career in the arts. She loves discovering and sharing viral videos.

A 28-year-old woman named Emily was recently pulled over by police in Oklahoma after an officer spotted her driving without a seat belt.

The officer discovered her license was suspended and told Emily he needed to check and see if she had any warrants.

That’s when the female driver said something very unexpected.

“But I have to poop so bad,” she begged. “Why won’t you just let me go? Can I please go home and go poop?!”

Meanwhile, the officer learned there was in fact a warrant out for her arrest — and that’s when Emily started trying harder to get away.

The officer then asked her to get out of the vehicle, informing her that she was under arrest.

When she learned she was about to be arrested, she refused to get out of the car and then proceeded to lead the officer on a high-speed chase, blowing through stop signs and facing even more officers with their guns drawn.

Even after she finally surrendered, she returned to the “business” at hand. Watch the clip below, recorded on the officer’s body cam, to see how this bizarre traffic stop unfolded.

If fans are expecting Season 2, so it is without a doubt that the characters who didn’t endure the first season won’t have a return in Season 2. So the characters who experienced the Watchmen Season 1 will probably be back with no uncertainty.

What Know About Its Storyline

Right now, we can talk anything about the plotting because we don’t know that Season 2 will occur or not. We can’t expect what impact will Season 1 will leave on Season 2. And furthermore, we don’t have any prospects to see Lindelof, so right now, we truly can’t anticipate anything.
