New Hugh Jackman Coffee Ad Goes Viral Because It’s Hilariously Narrated By His ‘Frenemy’ Ryan Reynolds

Published

on

A cup of good coffee in the morning can mean the difference between a grumpy superhero and a smiling actor. A commercial starring Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman is going viral and it’s none other than his longtime pretend ‘nemesis’ and ‘frenemy’ Ryan Reynolds who does the voiceover.

“The nicest [effing] coffee on Earth,” Reynolds says in the ad for Laughing Man Coffee which Jackman founded. In the promo, we see a whole different side to Jackman. One of the friendliest people on the planet in real life, he pretends to be incredibly bad-tempered while Reynolds ‘trolls’ him with his narration.

Jackman destroys his alarm clock, shouts at some kids to be quiet, and even tells his own adorable dog to go walk itself. All in the spirit of comedy, of course. Scroll down to check out the video and let us know what you think of it, dear Pandas.

In the commercial, Jackman pretends to be very grumpy and mad at the world before he has his first cup of coffee

The video got more than 480k views on YouTube in less than a day at the time of writing and people adored Reynolds’ commentary, as well as Jackman’s performance.

Jackman traveled to Ethiopia in 2009 where he met a young coffee farmer named Dukale who was working to lift his family out of poverty. Inspired by Dukale’s story, the actor launched Laughing Man Coffee in 2011 to provide a marketplace for farmers living in developing countries to sell their goods to consumers in the United States.

The actor contributes 100% (no, that’s not a typo) of his profits to the Laughing Man Foundation which supports community development, educational programs, and social entrepreneurs around the globe.

Jackman’s partner in all things coffee and philanthropy is former Brooklyn criminal prosecutor David Steingard. He is the co-founder and CEO of Laughing Man Coffee, as well as the Director of the Laughing Man Foundation. He and Jackman both believe that business can create positive change in the world.

And here’s how people reacted to the coffee ad

90 Day Fiance: Which Couples Are (Somehow) Still Together?

Published

on

By

90 Day Fiance is one of those franchises that sounds like it could be full of amazing love stories or just a total trainwreck.

Amazingly, the show manages to be both … which is why people can’t stop watching the TLC show and its 678 spinoffs.

Sometimes, you see couples like Kirlyam and Alan Cox, who met despite being from different continents but found love and happiness, got married, and are growing their families.

Then you have more … infamous couples.

Couples like Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali, who seemed to be trying to out-scam each other until those schemes devolved into mutual loathing.

A lot of the couples fall into the middle somewhere.

Some are a little weird, some seem like soulmates.

Any marriage can go right or wrong, and becoming reality stars during your engagement adds an extra special twist to that.

Honestly, you might be shocked at how many of these couples are still together. And which ones aren’t.

1.
Ashley Martson and Jay Smith

Even before Jay left Jamaica, Ashley was warned that he was cheating on her and that he would continue to do so. Sure enough, he he cheated on her just days after their wedding. Ashley forgave him — because she caught him before he could *physically* cheat. Ashley filed for divorce on January 11, 2019, after Jay banged a random woman in the bathroom. They reconciled less than two weeks later. Ashley filed for divorce in April 2019, after discovering that Jay was cheating with a mistress. They reconciled late that summer, and only revealed that when they once again broke up. Then, in March of 2020, Ashley and Jay revealed that they were back together during the COVID-19 pandemic. In August of 2020, after months of celebrating their renewed marriage and launching multiple business ventures, they celebrated their third wedding anniversary. On September 19, 2020, Ashley announced on Instagram that she and Jay had decided to end their marriage — for good this time — citing that she could not let go of his many, many betrayals and transgressions.

2.
Fernanda Flores and Jonathan Rivera

Fernanda Flores and Jonathan Rivera

Fernanda and Jonathan met while Jon was clubbing on vacation. He ended up extending that vacation. Despite an age gap, some homesickness, and a lot of doubts, the two tied the knot. Unfortunately, the couple split around New Year’s Eve after getting into an argument. Initially, Jon said that Fernanda had been hurtful towards him. Months later, Fernanda shared a lengthy video with witness statements, accusing Jon of being controlling, abusive, and a fraud. In 2020, Fernanda dipped her toes back into the dating world via video chats during the pandemic, while Jon became engaged to his new love.

3.
Larissa Lima and Eric Nichols

Larissa Lima and Eric Nichols

Larissa joined Tinder in early February of 2019, where she saw an ottery hottie. That turned out to be Eric Nichols, a guy in his mid-twenties. Still grieving the end of her marriage, Larissa began dating this total upgrade, eventually debuting him at her divorce party in March of that year. Though the two had their ups and downs, including a September 11 breakup (whoops) that year, they reconciled weeks later and resolved to make it work. Eric tended to Larissa after both bouts of major cosmetic surgeries in 2020. On September 19, 2020, Larissa and Eric embarked upon a road trip in a U-haul to their new home in Colorado Springs after buying a house together. They are still together.

4.
Jenny and Sumit

Jenny and Sumit

This The Other Way couple had one of the most dramatic storylines in all of 2020, and Sumit’s secret marriage (and children!) shocked even the head honchos over at TLC. But the two returned for 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way’s second season, and are determined to make it work … if Sumit can actually go through with his plans to divorce.

5.
Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez

Molly and Luis broke up after a lot of arguments, an attempted reconciliation, and even the implication that Molly was abusive. Luis remarried to a mystery woman just four months after his divorce was finalized. Molly and Luis both claim that the other was using them. Late in the summer of 2020, it was reported that Luis might soon be deported, as his new marriage was not to an American citizen.

6.
Angela and Michael

Angela and Michael

In late January of 2020, Angela and Michael were finally married, having a ceremony in Nigeria. Despite a lot of ups and downs and controversies, they remain together as of April 2020, even donating handmade masks to McDonald’s workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. They are, however, not physically together — the pandemic and immigration hurdles mean that their physical reunion is likely years away.

7.
Corey and Evelin

Corey and Evelin

Corey was stricken with emotional distress and temporarily blocked Evelin after the Tell All was filmed in 2019, but the two reconnected and he eventually returned to Engabao, Ecuador to be with Evelin again. As of fall 2020, they are still together — and rumor has it that they are actually married already.

8.
Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava

Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava

Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava ran into trouble when Anfisa learned that Jorge was in debt and less able to spoil her. Despite arguments and even a breakup, they decided to stay married — even after Jorge was sentenced to 2 years in prison. Jorge is scheduled for release from prison in May 2020, but not soon enough to save his marriage. Anfisa has a new boyfriend, and Jorge has announced his intention to file for divorce. He says that Anfisa was jealous of the attention that he received for his weight loss behind bars.

9.
Robert and Anny

Robert and Anny

Despite having known each other in person for a very short time and a lot of unwelcome surprises, Robert and Anny married in a low-budget ceremony in Florida on Season 7 of 90 Day Fiance. In the spring of 2020, Anny revealed that she was pregnant with her first child — and Robert’s sixth child. The two welcomed their precious baby with joy.

10.
Kalani and Asuelu

Kalani and Asuelu

Kalani and Asuelu are still together. Not only were they brought together by their first child, but they soon announced that a second was on the way. They really love each other! That and, Kalani explains, Asuelu thinks that condoms are for “slut people.” They have two precious young boys, but unfortunately, went on to have more drama. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Asuelu’s reckless disregard for simple safety precautions caused Kalani to send him to Seattle to stay with his mother so that he would no longer endanger her or their children.

11.
Kirlyam and Alan Cox

Kirlyam and Alan Cox

Kirlyam’s family couldn’t even make it to the wedding and had to watch a livestream, but she and Alan Cox are adorably in love and enjoy nerding out together. Their first child, a boy named Liam, was born on October 6th, 2017!

12.
Lisa Hamme and Usman Umar

Lisa Hamme and Usman Umar

“Baby Girl” Lisa and Usman’s age difference isn’t what drove them apart despite their marriage. Lisa was embroiled in a scandal after it was discovered that she felt free to hurl racist and homophobic slurs at fans, and that she apparently used the N-word to refer to her husband. Lisa lost her 90 Day Fiance career because of her fondness for the worst word in the history of language, and Usman made it clear that they had no future together and had split.

13.
Paul Staehle and Karine Martins

Paul Staehle and Karine Martins

For better or for worse, despite the language barrier and hefty age gap, Paul and Karine were married. For a time, they lived in Brazil. Together, they had their son, Pierre. They moved to the US for a couple of months but then moved back to Brazil when Paul failed to find employment. Later, they moved back to the US. In 2020, Paul and Karine separated. A pregnant Karine accused Paul of controlling behavior, preventing her from leaving the house, and abuse. The two are not currently together and appear to have many months or even years of custody disputes ahead of them.

14.
Paola and Russ Mayfield

Paola and Russ Mayfield

This couple’s biggest problem? Paola is a model, and Russ is super uncomfortable. Also, Russ is from Oklahoma, which is not quite the modeling capitol of the world. Despite some serious disagreements, Russ and Paola are still married. On January 1, 2019, they welcomed their first child, Axel. Awww!

15.
Avery Mills and Omar Albakkour

Avery Mills and Omar Albakkour

Avery and Omar were married in Lebannon, but Omar’s Syrian citizenship makes it all but impossible for him to move to the US. Right now, Avery is in America, working while also being a college student, and she is saving up money to eventually go through the visa process to bring her husband over to the US. In April of 2020, she confirmed that, despite rumors, she and Omar remain married.

16.
Mohamed Jbali and Danielle Mullins

Mohamed Jbali and Danielle Mullins

Mohamed accused Danielle of having foul body odor and of misusing his credit card and identity. Danielle accused Mohamed of refusing to have sex with her and of cheating. Not only is this couple not together, but they can’t stand each other. Danielle tried to have Mohamed deported, but was unsuccessful. He moved to Texas and began working, and in late 2019, expressed interest in becoming a truck driver. The two did make peace in early 2020, and were later said to be filming together — albeit as friends.

17.
Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou

Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou

Some early surprises and some not-so-great finances threw a wrench into Nicole and Azan’s plans to get married, but these two are currently in a long-term relationship. You can tell that it’s serious because he’s bonded with her daughter, even though Nicole lied to her family by claiming to have given Azan money to open a shop in Morocco. In March 2020, Nicole traveled to see Azan for the first time in years, and ended up getting “stuck” in Morocco during the pandemic. What was supposed to be a two-week visit turned into a 5-month extended stay, but in August, she made it home safe and sound. She and Azan (whose real name is Hassan M’Raouni) continue to be engaged, despite the claims made by both haters and rumors.

18.
Loren and Alexei Brovarnik

Loren and Alexei Brovarnik

Loren and Alexei got married in Israel. However, it took a long time for them to get Alex’s K-1 visa. Loren felt that some couples on 90 Day Fiance didn’t deserve to be together and made a mockery of the K-1 visa process that she felt was designed for people like her and Alex, who are truly in love. Yes, they’re absolutely still together. In early 2020, Alexei secured his US citizenship and the couple welcomed their firstborn child into the world in April.

19.
Elizabeth and Andrei

Elizabeth and Andrei

Despite cultural differences between Elizabeth’s family and Andrei’s expectations from Moldova, the two got married and welcomed their daughter into the world. This was not even close to the end of their story, as Andrei’s conflicts with Elizabeth’s family over his misplaced sense of pride and his refusal to work continued.

20.
Chantel and Pedro

Chantel and Pedro

Even after a violent brawl erupted between Pedro and Chantel’s family, Chantel and Pedro are still together — in fact, in 2019, they landed their very own 90 Day Fiance spinoff, titled: The Family Chantel.

21.
Aleksandra and Josh

Aleksandra and Josh

No longer a party girl, Aleksandra adopted Josh’s religious way of life and the two settled down and even had a baby. The baby’s skin tone looked darker than either parent’s, which caused some social media trolls to try to portray Aleksandra as a cheater — so she quit social media. The couple’s still together, though. That’s what matters.

22.
Deavan and Jihoon

Deavan and Jihoon

Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee found themselves expecting a child together after their first night together. Deavan moved out to South Korea with her youn daughter, Drascilla, and she gave birth to the couple’s son, Taeyang. Adjusting to their new life has had some bumps along the way, but they made their marriage work for quite some time … until they couldn’t anymore. At some point around the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, things reached a breaking point and Deavan returned to the US with her children while Jihoon remained in South Korea. Deavan, at least, has moved on.

23.
Colt Johnson and Larissa Lima

Colt Johnson and Larissa Lima

Colt is from Las Vegas and Larissa is from Brazil. Over the course of their seven-month marriage, the two had a number of conflicts, particularly over Colt’s cheating habits and Larissa clashing with her mother-in-law, Debbie. The two divorced on January 11, 2019.

24.
Noon and Kyle

Noon and Kyle

Noon’s real name is Bajaree Boonma, but she goes by “Noon” as apparently her real name is “too hard,” which is sad. Kyle was a consummate bachelor and came across as a little dumb when the two met, but the couple had basically zero drama. As of late 2018, they’re still married.

25.
Steven and Olga

Steven and Olga

Steven Frend and Olga Koshimbetova had a rough time at first, between Steven’s rudeness (there’s no nice way to phrase that, sorry) and the delay in bringing Olga to the US. But Steven and Olga are still together, even if it took Olga and their son, Alex, longer to get to the US than Steven had promised.

26.
Nikki and Mark

Nikki and Mark

Can you spot the difference between these two? Because Nikki being from the Phillipines is way less of a big deal than Mark being 58 while she’s 19. Mark even admitted on the show that Nikki is probably young enough to be his granddaughter. They seem to be still together, but Mark wasn’t happy with his portrayal on the show and decided to sue TLC.

27.
Tiffany and Ronald

Tiffany and Ronald

Tiffany Franco and Ronald Smith were married in South Africa, but ultimately, Tiffany knew that she wanted to raise her children in the United States, and bring Ronald over when she could. The two had a nasty and very public falling out in early 2020, but then reconciled and resolved to fight for their marriage just weeks later.

28.
Melanie Bowers and Devar Walters

Melanie Bowers and Devar Walters

Melanie met Devar while on a trip to Jamaica, before the 90 days of 90 Day Fiance ever began. Melanie’s family wasn’t sure what to make of him, but clearly that wasn’t a dealbreaker because the two of them are still together — and welcomed a child in 2017!

29.
Chelsea and Yamir

Chelsea and Yamir

Everything looked good for Chelsea and Yamir after Chelsea met Yamir in Nicaragua and the two decided to get hitched. It wasn’t meant to last, however. Though they did get married, the couple filed for divorce in 2017. Still, it sounds like they’re on relatively good terms.

30.
Aya and Louis

Aya and Louis

Louis would have been happy to live in the Phillipines with Aya, but for the sake of his young children, the couple lives in the US. The couple decided to stop doing the show, but they are still married. In February of 2018, they announced the birth of their child.

31.
Alla and Matt

Alla and Matt

It’s kind of strange to think of a couple bonding and getting married over both having gotten divorced, but hey, stranger unions have come about. Matt’s been divorced three times, so he says that that’s how he KNOWS that Alla is the perfect woman for him. They are still together.

32.
Aziza and Mike

Aziza and Mike

These two met online — not on a dating website, but on a site for learning other languages. Friendly chatting turned into something else. Aziza came to Chicago to marry Mike. Aziza is a little bossy, but that’s clearly not a dealbreaker — because they’re still together. In fact, they announced in 2018 that they are expecting their first child.

33.
Aika and Josh

Aika and Josh

These two ran into a rough patch when Josh was less than eager to reverse his vasectomy. Despite that, they did get married and are still together.

34.
David and Annie Toborowsky

David and Annie Toborowsky

These two got married, even though David has a host of financial troubles and is twice Annie’s age. Since their nuptials, they have had other problems, including losing their home. Still, they are a fan-favorite couple and are a treasued part of the franchise.

35.
Evelyn and David

Evelyn and David

This couple allegedly met online when David was 27 and Evelyn was only 18, though some believe that there’s evidence that they started talking years earlier, when she was only 15. Either way, David appealed to Evelyn’s conservative Christian values. The two are currently married and living in New Hampshire.

36.
Cassia Tavares and Jason Hitch

Cassia Tavares and Jason Hitch

After multiple attempts to make it work, the two have divorced. Cassia has revealed that after multiple incidents of alleged violence, one of which resulted in police being called, she can no longer view Jason in the same light as she once did.

Oneohtrix Point Never Teases New Music

Published

on

By

The last few years have been, to say the least, big ones for Daniel Lopatin. His Oneohtrix Point Never project has continued to garner acclaim, at the same time that Lopatin has been asked to collaborate with more and more artists. Last year, he re-teamed with the Safdie brothers to score Uncut Gems. (Like his work for their 2017 film Good Time, it was pretty incredible — and worked perfectly with the movie at hand.) Before that, his 2018 album Age Of ranked as one of the best of the year, and was accompanied by the most ambitious live performances of his career. Most of us probably wouldn’t have put money on something coming from Lopatin so soon after all that, but it looks we would’ve been wrong.

Earlier today, OPN socials featured a new video that certainly appears to be leading up to the announcement of a new project. It’s a short animated clip full of melted psychedelic imagery and a bit of atmospheric music as well; Shazam identifies the music as “Tales From The Strash Stratum.” At the end, a logo teases something called Magic OPN. Way back in the project’s early days, Lopatin used to go by Magic Oneohtrix Point Never. Perhaps this ties back to the late ’00s somehow — or perhaps Lopatin’s just sifting through digital detritus, as he does.

5 Marvel properties that should get their own R-rated movie if the MCU is to keep up with DC after ‘Joker’

Published

on

By

The success of Todd Phillips’s ‘Joker’ has significantly upped the demand for mature movies based on comic book characters and with good reason. Sure, the comic book medium’s target audience might still be quite young but that doesn’t mean these characters don’t have more depth to them than meets the eye.

While we’re quite certain DC will be doing a whole lot of R-rated films to follow up on ‘Joker’, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still quite lacking in that area (‘Deadpool’ doesn’t count). So here are five Marvel Comics properties that we think should get their own R-rated movies.

Doctor Doom

If there’s one Marvel character who deserves his own movie, it’s Doctor Victor Von Doom. The character has been featured in every ‘Fantastic Four’ movie ever made and it’s inevitable that he will be introduced in the MCU eventually but that said, Doom would truly shine in his own R-rated film. There’s a certain likability to the character even though he might be a mad scientist and a dictator and we’d love to see the character get a proper exploration (perhaps with Michael Fassbender in the lead role).

Marvel Knights

To be clear, we’re not talking about the dormant comic book imprint (though that did give us some very enjoyable stories), what we’d like is a movie featuring the unnamed team assembled by Daredevil in ‘Marvel Knight’ #1 to capture the Punisher. That line-up featured Daredevil, Black Widow, Dagger, Moon Knight, Shang-Chi, and Luke Cage and the story had influenced Marvel’s Netflix shows. Perhaps the team’s roster could be adjusted a little to include more obscure heroes but there’s plenty of potential here for a great, gory, action movie.

Dafne Keen as X-23 in Logan (IMDb)

X-23

Laura Kinney, Wolverine’s clone, has had a very tragic life, raised to be a weapon, forced to kill her own mother, and turned into a prostitute before eventually finding some degree of peace at the Xavier Institute. The character made a very successful appearance on ‘Logan’ (played by Dafne Keen) and fans have been eagerly hoping to get more of her ever since. An R-rated movie would be able to really explore Laura’s life and truly do justice to her story.

Green Goblin

Perhaps the most famous Spider-Man villain of all time, the Green Goblin / Norman Osborn has had a number of film appearances, most notably being played by Willem Dafoe in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy. While the character is usually depicted as a raving lunatic, there’s still a lot to Norman that’s yet to be explored and an R-rated movie could be just what he needs to really bring out the Goblin within.

Mister Sinister

Characters like Doom and the Joker are interesting because somewhere, deep down, they still have a shred of humanity. Mister Sinister, on the other hand, is the most inhuman monster you could ever meet. The character has been referenced in multiple ‘X-Men’ movies but he’s never made an actual appearance in a live-action movie, which is a shame because he has a really fun (if not twisted) sense of humor. With a whole movie to focus on him, Marvel would be able to really showcase Sinister’s insanity while leaving audiences delightfully shocked.
