DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #1

The Official Prequel to The New York Times Bestselling Series
Comes to Comics For the First Time in October 2020

BOOM! Studios revealed a first look at DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #1, the series premiere of a twelve-issue DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES comic book series arriving in stores October 2020. This will be adapted & scripted by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, who co-wrote the eponymous prequel novel based on Frank Herbert’s notes and illustrated by artist Dev Pramanik (Paradiso) and colorist Alex Guimarães, in partnership with Herbert Properties LLC and in full coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who are publishing in the fall the first of three graphic novel adaptations of Herbert’s original classic novel DUNE.

Set in the years leading up the Hugo and Nebula Award-winning Dune—which inspired the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures— DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES transports readers to the far future on the desert planet Arrakis where Pardot Kynes seeks its ecological secrets in remote, desolate regions of the alien world.

Meanwhile, a violent coup is planned by Shaddam Corrino, the son of Emperor Elrood; far away, an eight-year-old slave Duncan Idaho seeks to escape his cruel masters; and a young man named Leto Atreides begins a fateful journey. These unlikely souls are drawn together first as renegades and then as something more, as they discover their true fate – to change the very shape of history!

Created by visionary writer Frank Herbert, Dune debuted in 1965, has sold millions of copies and is arguably the most admired science fiction novel of all time. After winning the Hugo Award and inaugural Nebula Award, Dune inspired a best-selling novel series and led to multiple live-action adaptations, including the upcoming feature film from Legendary Pictures. The influence of Dune extends well beyond the world of entertainment, with an incalculable influence on modern scientific thinking about politics, religion, outer space, environmentalism and more.

The DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES limited series is published in coordination with Abrams ComicArts, who will release a graphic novel trilogy adapting Frank Herbert’s original novel Dune, with volume one coming November 24, 2020. The Dune graphic novels from ComicArts are also adapted and scripted by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, and will be illustrated by Raúl Allén and Patricia Martín, and feature covers by Bill Sienkiewicz.

DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES is the newest release from BOOM! Studios’ eponymous imprint, home to critically acclaimed original series, including Once & Future by Kieron Gillen and Dan Mora; Something is Killing the Children by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera; Faithless by Brian Azzarello and Maria Llovet; Klaus by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora; Folklords by Matt Kindt and Matt Smith; The Red Mother by Jeremy Haun and Danny Luckert; and Alienated by Simon Spurrier and Chris Wildgoose. The imprint also publishes popular licensed properties including Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Jordie Bellaire and David López; Firefly from Greg Pak and Dan McDaid; and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers from Ryan Parrott and Daniele Di Nicuolo.

DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #1 features main cover art by Jae Lee (Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child), variant cover art by Dan Mora (Once & Future), Miguel Mercado (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and more.

Print copies of DUNE: HOUSE ATREIDES #1 will be available on October 21, 2020 at local comic book shops (use comicshoplocator.com to find the one nearest you), or at the BOOM! Studios webstore. RHOA: NeNe Leakes’ vague tweets don’t make her look good

Published

Another day, another threatening tweet from NeNe Leakes about how she always took one for the team but is that really the case?

While NeNe Leakes insists she hasn’t been fired and is always in “contract negotiations” with Bravo, her twitter feed tells a different story.  Since contracts for The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13 have most likely gone out and filming with the new cast members has been spotted…is NeNe actually, finally, thankfully, done?

Normally when a Bravo star is in negotiations, it’s in their best interest to keep a low profile.  NeNe, however, loves to make a huge deal about nothing and blow up her spot before it’s even her spot.

Perhaps back in the day, she had a better position to negotiate from, but now she just gets angry and calls people names.  The most recent tweet was no different.  NeNe said he has protected everyone and covered things up for years, while she took the punishment so others didn’t have to.

She said no one protected her or stood up for her in her time of need, they just turned the other cheek.  ‘You are NOT exempted from getting this same treatment 1 day.”  Is this one for Kandi Burruss?

While NeNe was an integral part of The Real Housewives of Atlanta for a long time, her presence doesn’t seem to bring anything to the table anymore.  In fact, after her incident with the cameraman in a previous season, the relationship between NeNe and the show seems to have all but soured.

Last season none of her castmates even wanted to film with her.  She drummed up some drama about a fake recording to get some filming time with the other ladies, but she got called out at the reunion to say there never was a recording.

Since NeNe faced 0 repercussions for her actions against the cameraman, it certainly does seem that she was protected…by many people.  Your work here might be done, NeNe.  And you might be the only one to blame for it.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta will be back on Bravo later this year.

Real-Life Couple Ben Lewis and Blake Lee Cast in Lifetime’s First LGBTQ Movie

Published

Lifetime is stepping up their holiday movie game. The channel, which often airs traditional family Christmas movies each season, is finally featuring an LGBTQ couple in their holiday lineup for the very first time this year with the film The Christmas Setup. When the movie was first announced this summer, we had no idea who our mystery leads would be, but we finally have an answer — and it turns out that the two stars have a sweet love story of their own. Ben Lewis and Blake Lee, a real-life couple, will star as the film’s romantic leads, The Advocate reports.

The Christmas Setup follows two men who fall in love by chance over the holidays. Lewis will play Hugo, a New York corporate lawyer who travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, over the holidays. He takes his best friend, Madelyn (Ellen Wong) with him on the trip to visit his mom, Kate (Fran Drescher).

Kate, being the matchmaker she is, seizes on the opportunity to set her son up while he’s in town. She arranges for Hugo to run into his old crush, Patrick (Lee), who’s back home taking a break from his big tech job in Silicon Valley. Just when the two begin to couple up, they have to make a tough choice when Hugo is presented with a job opportunity all the way in London.

While they’ll play a blossoming couple in The Christmas Setup, Lewis and Lee have been together for years now and got married in 2016. The couple first met at the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World premiere in 2010, when they ran into each other in the bathroom of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. After seeing Lewis, Lee, who had a starring role in the film, went back to his seat, where he joked to his to friend, “I just met the man I’m going to marry — at the urinal.”

The Christmas Setup is just one of 30 new films set to debut as part of Lifetime’s It’s a Wonderful Lifetime holiday movie slate. While the romantic seasonal film doesn’t have a premiere date just yet, Lifetime will begin rolling out its holiday lineup next month, starting Oct. 30.
