Published in 1817, the final fully written novel by Austen follows Anne Elliot who is reunited with young naval officer Frederick Wentworth many years after turning down his marriage proposal and must navigate English society when he returns from war wealthy and promoted to captain and considers her regretful decision and the possibility of unrequited love.

Snook has signed on to star as Elliot for director Mahalia Belo, with Jessica Swale (Summerland) attached to adapt the script. Alison Own and Debra Hayward, whose previous credits include the well-received period drama Suffragette and acclaimed coming-of-age comedy How to Build a Girl, are set to produce the project through their Monumental Pictures production banner.

Searchlight Pictures is co-financing the film with BBC Films, with Searchlight UK’s head of development and production Katie Goodson-Thomas set to oversee the project alongside senior development exec Pete Spencer and manager Apolline Berty.

Should the film be a theatrical release, it would mark the first such adaptation of Austen’s novel after having received two miniseries and two made-for-TV feature adaptations from the BBC and ITV, though the 1995 version starring Ciarán Hinds (Justice League) got a theatrical exhibition in the US.

In addition to HBO’s Succession, Snook has also recently been seen in the Seth Rogen-starring comedy An American Pickle on HBO Max and will next be seen in the drama Pieces of a Woman, which was recently acquired by Netflix after its acclaimed debut at the Venice International Film Festival.

Everything you need to know about Jennifer Lopez’s cop drama Shades of Blue

Jennifer Lopez is one of the biggest names in the world. Onscreen, she’s known and loved for her roles in Maid in Manhattan, The Wedding Planner and Selena. She is also one of the best performers in the world — we still can’t get over her Super Bowl Halftime Show with Shakira earlier this year (yes, that happened in 2020).

But J.Lo wears many other hats in her career, and a role that’s flown under the radar is her turn as Harlee Santos in the cop drama Shades of Blue.

Here’s everything you need to know about the gritty drama, which you can watch for free on 9Now.

What is Shades of Blue all about?

Harlee Santos (Lopez) is a detective in the New York City Police Department, but has unfortunately fallen in with a team of dirty cops, taking bribes and protection money that she uses to provide the best life for her talented and high-performing daughter.

But when Harlee is entrapped by the FBI and forced to inform on her fellow officers, she’ll have to walk the fine line between loyalty, betrayal, honesty and duty and try to keep it together for her daughter’s future.

Who stars in Shades of Blue?

If you’ve been reading this far, you’ll know that iconic Hollywood actress, singer and dancer Jennifer Lopez plays the starring role of Harlee Santos. Ray Liotta also stars as Matt Wozniak, a corrupt lieutenant who is the commander of the Street Crimes detective squad and the main target in an FBI anti-corruption investigation.

Warren Kole of Common Law and The Following also appears as Robert Stahl, an FBI special agent agent assigned to the Anti-Corruption Task Force, and Harlee’s handler.

Drea de Matteo, who you may recognise from her iconic, and ultimately tragic, role as Adriana La Cerva on The Sopranos, plays Tess Nazario, a detective reassigned to patrol as a sergeant in Season 3.

What kind of drama can we expect from Shades of Blue?

From tragic drive-by shootings and serious police corruption being exposed by the FBI, you can be sure that this edge-of-your-seat series will keep delivering on the drama.

Shades of Blue will deliver more drama than you can handle on 9Now. (9Now)

This is exemplified in the very first episode of Season 1 when rookie cop Michael is out with Harlee and accidentally shoots a drug dealer, and she is forced to cover up the fatal error that could land Michael in prison.

Finally, at the very end of the episode, a not-above-board meeting with a bookie turns out to be an FBI setup for Harlee, who is now forced to work with Agent Robert Stahl and his anti-corruption task force to avoid jail. And this is still just the first episode.

Bachie Fave Tara Pavlovic Had A Surprise Wedding With Maccas On The Menu, And I’m Lovin It

The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise alum Tara Pavlovic just got hitched to boo and longtime friend Nick Shepherdson on Friday. She then did what every woman wishes they thought of first, and that’s serving Maccas at the ceremony. Goals.

The couple held an intimate ceremony with close family and friends, after COVID-19 forced them to postpone their wedding in April.

Tara and Nick were friends for ten years prior to dating and if that doesn’t make your heart melt, I don’t know what will. I guess that means men can shut up about the friendzone now? Because clearly, it’s not a thing if longtime friends like Tara and Nick managed to fall in love. Timing really is everything.

In a series of Instagram stories on Tara’s profile today, she posted a handful of adorable pics from the wedding. One pic was of Tara’s hand placed on Nick’s, captioned “I finally got to marry my best friend yesterday, I love you Nick.”

Also seen in the pic is an iced sugar cookie with the words ‘Mr & Mrs Shep’ and the date of their wedding ‘25.09.20’ written in the icing. Awww.

Tara also took to Instagram to show us her lavish wedding spread of Cheeseburgers, McNuggets and what looks like sweet and sour sauce packets. Which I have to say is quite disappointing, because we all know that barbecue is the superior condiment, or Big Mac sauce if you’re feeling fancy.

Tara is known for her stint on Matty J’s season of The Bachelor and winning over Australia’s hearts by being a sweet, down to earth lass. After coming second runners-up on Bachie, she then went on to Paradise where she fell hard for Sam Cochrane. The pair got engaged during the Paradise finale in 2018.

However, their relationship quickly turned sour and they had a very public breakup in June 2018.

Two months later, Tara started dating bestie Nick, announcing their engagement this time last year.

Congrats on your wedding Tara, we love to see it.

‘Veep’ Cast to Virtually Reunite for Democratic Party of Wisconsin Event

A year after the Veep series finale, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the cast of beloved HBO comedy will come together for a one-night-only virtual reunion to benefit the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

For the October 4th livestream, Louis-Dreyfus will be rejoined by former cast mates Anna Chlumskey, Reid Scott, Matt Walsh, Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Tim Simons and Clea DuVall, as well as special guests. Veep showrunner David Mandel will serve as moderator for the reunion.

“All roads to the White House go through the great state of Wisconsin. Trump can’t win re-election if he doesn’t win Wisconsin,” Louis-Dreyfus said on Twitter. “So, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin has built an unprecedented voter mobilization operation, and they need resources in these final days to deliver Wisconsin to vice president Joe Biden and Senator Harris.”

Veep is the latest virtual reunion assembled in order to raise money for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin: In recent weeks, the casts of The Princess Bride and Parks and Recreation have also huddled around a Zoom in an effort to swing the key battleground state. “Anything you donate will be used to ensure that Trump loses Wisconsin, and thereby the White House,” the Act Blue site states.

Louis-Dreyfus added, “The future of democracy is on the line, people. Come and join us and be part of winning Wisconsin, taking down Trump and electing Joe Biden.”
