Stephen Colbert mocks Trump’s climate change denial in California

Stephen Colbert responded to President Trump’s assessment of California’s wildfires

Throughout his time in office, President Trump has claimed to be an expert in several fields. The latest area of expertise is apparently climate science and forest management. However, Stephen Colbert had some questions for the president.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert returned last night on CBS after a two-week break. The late-night show did not miss a beat and jumped right back into the biggest stories of the week, including the crisis in California.

President Trump traveled to California to survey damage from the ongoing wildfires. He met with a local task force in a televised briefing and also spoke with reporters about the situation.

As Colbert explained in his monologue, President Trump demonstrated a startling lack of knowledge about the cause of forest fires. And what was worse for the Late Show host was the president’s clear denial of climate change.

Stephen Colbert calls out President Trump’s dangerous denial of science

Stephen Colbert should be used to President Trump trying to explain the weather and climate by now. We’ve heard the president detail how the novel coronavirus would disappear with warmer weather in April and we’ve seen him predict the path of a hurricane against experts’ models.

Once again, Colbert sees President Trump push back against experts, this time about climate change and the science behind these devastating wildfires. It is similar to how the president has contradicted experts during the pandemic, something Colbert has highlighted time and time again.

President Trump’s explanation of trees exploding received a lot of attention. But this isn’t the first time he’s suggested that forest management is more responsible for fires than climate change. Some late-night fans may recall the jokes that came after President Trump claimed that Finland avoided forest fires through a strict raking regimen.

The second half of Colbert’s monologue looked at how President Trump publically downplayed COVID-19 while privately he was well aware of the risks. The Late Show host counts it as another time the president has politicized science and put facts to the side.

Jill Duggar: Jim Bob Hates the Way I’m Living … But I Don’t Care!

There was a time when Jill Duggar seemed to be more committed to her parents’ ultra-conservative belief system than any of her siblings.

Needless to say, those days are long gone.

These days Jill wears pants, rocks a nose piercing, and generally disregards the ultra-strict dress code she was raised with.

And that’s not all.

As we recently learned, Jill drinks alcohol, which is strictly forbidden in her parents’ household.

She’s able to do all this because she made the wise, wise decision to distance herself from Jim Bob and Michelle once she got old enough to realize that the way she’d been raised was more than just abnormal … it was damaging.

One of the things that led her to this realization was the fact that Derick feuded with Jim Bob so severely that the two families essentially cut ties.

Jill was taught from a young age that a woman should be loyal to her husband no matter what, and so, she sided with Derick and finally gained some perspective on her parents’ bizarre belief system,

Jill discussed her newfound freedom in detail in a recent YouTube video in which she and Derick answered questions from fans.

“I kind of always thought they were cute,” Jill said in response to a query about her nose ring.

“But I think that some of the decisions that we’ve made, even if I liked something before, I wouldn’t have done it because maybe of the backlash that I would get or something, from people close to me or something,” she added.

“I just hate confrontation so maybe I would’ve avoided it.”

We probably don’t need to tell whom Jill is referring to when she mentions people close to her who caused her to question her decisions.

“I think because of the journey we had already been on as a couple that I was more comfortable with decisions that we make as a family,” Jill added.

“Being OK sometimes with other people not being OK is a hard thing, but as long as we knew the decisions were not wrong, they could just be ones that other people might not make for themselves and that’s like, good for us.”

Jill went on to reveal that the first public place she ever wore pants was an amusement park, and she did so only after receiving Derick’s approval.

So she’s not exactly living the life of a modern, liberated woman, but she’s taking steps in the right direction.

Jill stated that’s it’s not always easy going against her family’s belief system, and not all of her siblings are supportive of the path she’s embarked on.

“Are they supportive? Not always,” she said.

“Everyone’s gonna have their opinion about different things. Some of my siblings are probably more likely to have something to say about it than others. Some are more like, ‘Hey, I’m happy for whatever y’all are deciding.'”

It sounds as though Jill has come to accept that living life on her own terms will never be easy, and we suppose that’s true for everyone.

Another sign that she’s no longer interested in accepting every bit of advice and criticism the world has to offer?

Jill turned the comments off on her Q&A video.

Hey, she said she’s not good with confrontation!

Tame Impala – “Borderline (Blood Orange Remix)”

Tame Impala went on Fallon earlier this week to perform their Slow Rush single “Borderline.” Now the track is getting a new remix from Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes, who recruited Porches’ Aaron Maine to play drums on his take on the song, which re-imagines it as something a bit spacier and groovier.

It’s the second Slow Rush track to get the high-profile remix treatment following Four Tet’s remix of “Is It True” that came out last month.

‘Doctor Strange 2’: Director Scott Derrickson’s exit has fans convinced that ‘Disney is going to tank’ the film

Marvel fans woke up to an upsetting announcement. ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ director Scott Derrickson and Marvel Studios have decided to part ways. The film has been one of the most anticipated ones, and the prospect of a new director steering it forward has worried fans. While Derrickson will stay on as executive producer, the showrunners have to look for a new director now.

In a statement to Variety, Marvel Studios said, “Marvel Studios and Scott Derrickson have amicably parted ways on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. We remain grateful to Scott for his contributions to the MCU.”

Derrickson tweeted, “Marvel and I have mutually agreed to part ways on Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness due to creative differences. I am thankful for our collaboration and will remain on as EP.”

Fans are rather rattled by this piece of news and have been flooding social media with their views. Some though disappointed, believe that this just might be a good chance for the film. “Well this is disappointing. I’m sure they’ll find a good replacement but I liked the first film quite a bit and I imagine Derrickson had a good deal to do with that. Still excited for the film, though,” wrote a fan.

‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’ was expected to be a horror film, with ‘scary’ sequences in it. There is strong speculation that Marvel studios president Kevin Feige could not see eye-to-eye on this with Derrickson. Another tweeted,” Marvel couldn’t let Scott Derrickson make a Doctor Strange horror movie. I’m upset.

“I gotta strange feeling Disneys gonna tank #DoctorStrange,” a fan ominously wrote.

Another wrote, “Marvel will let James Gunn do whatever he wants with Guardians of the Galaxy, (which is good) but they won’t let Scott Derrickson make his #DoctorStrange movie. This is so unfortunate.”

A fan accused Marvel Studios being afraid to take risks. “I am really starting to lose interest in the MCU, it seems to want to stick with what is familiar and it is too scared to take any risks. The only remaining MCU film I am excited for is Thor 4 and that is it. #DoctorStrange #doctorstrangeinthemultiverseofmadness #FilmTwitter.”

“My thing is, why the hell hire a director when you know who they are and what they do and then decide that’s not what you want?! Just let the directors do their jobs. Disney really screwed the pouch on this one. So bummed,” tweeted a fan.

One fan called it a “tremendous loss”. “The only Marvel that has my interest right now is She-Hulk,What If?,and barely qualifies as Spiderman anymore three. Doctor Strange 2:Multiverse Of Madness is a tremendous loss.”

Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of Dr Strange, a man who decides to resort to powerful sorcery to heal himself after a scarring accident. The first film released in 2016, and the second starring Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, is expected to release in 2021.
