How to watch and live stream Emmys 2020

Published

on

By

Somehow, it’s September. And the 2020 Emmy Awards are fast-approaching.

This year’s ceremony devoted to the best in television will be a little different — like most things — thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of an in-person ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in downtown LA, stars will be broadcast into the show from around the world.

A promo for the award show promises 138 stars from 114 locations across 10 countries.

“How will we pull it off this year? We don’t know,” jokes host Jimmy Kimmel in a promo.

Though the show is still being billed as live, keep in mind that it’s a loose term for award shows this year. The VMAs, which were advertised as live, were mostly pre-filmed segments edited to seem in-the-moment.

Here’s everything you need to know about watching the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

When are they on?

The Emmys air Sunday, September 20 at 8 p.m. EST, 5 p.m. PST on ABC.

Will there be a pre-show?

ABC News Live will host a virtual preshow, “Countdown to the Emmys,” with a 90-minute special live streaming program hosted by “Good Morning America” Weekend co-anchors Eva Pilgrim and Whit Johnson and ABC News Correspondent Janai Norman from ABC News headquarters in New York. The pre-show will begin at 6:30 pm EST and will feature live interviews with nominees and much more.

In addition, Twitter will be hosting an exclusive Q&A with @TelevisionAcad for fans to ask their favorite Emmy nominees questions. Questions submitted by Sunday will be considered for the Emmys virtual Winners’ Walk, hosted by TV Academy Foundation alumnus Albert Lawrence.

Will there be a red carpet?

The coronavirus has made traditional red carpet shows all but impossible, but the preshow will revisit some of the greatest fashion to grace Emmys red carpets of the past as well as give “a glimpse at this year’s ‘couch couture,’” according to ABC.

Who will be appearing?

Jimmy Kimmel will take the “stage” once again. He previously helmed the show in 2012 and 2016.

Last year, the show famously went hostless on Fox.

Regina King, whose HBO show “Watchmen” carries the most nominations, should make an appearance as well as Rachel Brosnahan and the cast of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which also received multiple nods.

ABC promises “additional surprises,” but revealed appearances from Anthony Anderson, Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown, Laverne Cox, D-Nice, America Ferrera, Morgan Freeman, Ilana Glazer, Abbi Jacobson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Randall Park, Issa Rae, RuPaul, Patrick Stewart, Jason Sudeikis, Gabrielle Union, Count Von Count of “Sesame Street,” Lena Waithe, J.J. Watt, Oprah Winfrey, Ty Burrell, Ken Jeong, Mindy Kaling, Tatiana Maslany and Bob Newhart.

H.E.R. will be performing during the “In Memoriam” segment.

How can I watch?

Those with cable can simply turn their TV to ABC to watch the three-hour-long broadcast.

What if I don’t have cable?

Cord-cutters will have a more difficult time tuning in.

The ceremony can be streamed on Hulu with its live TV add-on, which can be purchased for $54.99 a month. A one-week free trial is available, just remember to cancel your subscription after the Emmys.

ABC is also available on YouTubeTV, which can be purchased for $64.99.

Sling and Philo do not carry ABC.

There’s a new menu item at Panera that’ll satisfy all your cheesy cravings. The brand’s Broccoli Cheddar Mac and Cheese is a mashup of two classic Panera menu items, coming together to form a comforting combination. If you’re wondering what’s in Panera’s new Broccoli Cheddar Mac and Cheese, here are the details on the delicious new treat.

Panera Bread unveiled its new menu item on Thursday, Sept 16. The offering marries two classic menu items – Panera’s Broccoli Cheddar Soup and Mac and Cheese – into an entirely new creation. The Broccoli Cheddar Mac and Cheese recipe features two distinct cheddar cheese sauces combined into one blend, which is then simmered in seasoned broccoli florets and julienned carrots. To top it off, the mouthwatering bite even comes in a bread bowl. According to a representative from Panera Bread, the offering is not a limited time offer or a seasonal menu item, so you can expect it to be around for a while.

You can order the Broccoli Cheddar Mac & Cheese at Panera locations nationwide, on Panera’s website, or via the Panera app, starting at $5.79. The menu item is being offered as part of Panera’s special You Pick Two deal, which allows customers to create a meal using half-portion combinations. If you’d prefer to enjoy the dish at home, you can order via Panera Curbside or contactless Delivery. The product is also available in the refrigerated deli area at select grocery retailers nationwide.

To celebrate the launch of the menu item, Panera and singer Michael Bolton released a a digital short: “When Some Mac Loves Broccoli Cheddar.” The video features Bolton singing an ode to the cheesy combo set to the singer’s classic hit, “When a Man Loves a Woman.”

If you decide to try out the menu item, it’s important to follow the coronavirus safety recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC as of Aug. 3, which include using a mobile order ahead option or placing a delivery order when possible to avoid extra outings. If you decide to dine in at Panera, make sure to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash or sanitize your hands regularly.

If you think you’re showing symptoms of coronavirus, which include fever, shortness of breath, and cough, call your doctor before going to get tested. If you’re anxious about the virus’s spread in your community, visit the CDC for up-to-date information and resources, or seek out mental health support. Michael Jordan’s Latest Win Came Against Joe Exotic And ‘Tiger King’

Published

Michael Jordan is a competitor, even when it comes to the Creative Arts Emmys. That means he’s likely celebrating his latest win over the likes of Joe Exotic and Mr. Monopoly on Saturday night.

Emmy weekend is certainly an interesting change from years past, with a pandemic still going on and a much more muted celebration in store this year. Still, one category that was much… wilder than most in recent years was the Creative Arts Emmy for outstanding documentary or nonfiction series. Tiger King, which took life in quarantine by storm this spring, certainly had lots of viral buzz, but it was up against a tough cast of characters, including Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was Jordan who came out on top on Saturday, with the 10-hour The Last Dance chronicling Jordan’s last year with the Chicago Bulls taking the award.

The normally staid category had a higher profile than most years, as it was filled with breakout series. The Last Dance — ESPN’s highest-rated original program ever — won the award over fellow nominees American Masters, Hillary, McMillion$ and Tiger King.

As THR noted, it’s the first Emmy win for ESPN in a documentary or nonfiction category, and the sixth overall for ESPN’s Primetime Emmy trophy case. And it’s certainly a big one against the enthralling Tiger King and hilarious McMillion$, to say the least.
