Unpregnant’s Director Cites Mad Max: Fury Road As An Inspiration, And Wow

Published

on

Unpregnant is primarily a comedy, which is where the comparisons to Mad Max: Fury Road converge. The movie is about 17-year-old Veronica (Haley Lu Richardson), aspiring to go to an Ivy League school, but discovers she’s pregnant. Afraid that could derail her dreams, she and ex-best friend Bailey (Barbie Ferreira) take a Trans-am to go on a road trip out to New Mexico to have an abortion, since that’s the only place closest where she can do it without telling her parents.

Is ‘Monica the Medium’ Star Monica Ten-Kate in a Relationship?

On Aug. 30, 2020, Monica commemorated what was supposed to be her wedding day.

“Today would’ve been our wedding day, but 2020 had different plans in store for us. As bittersweet as it is to not be walking down the aisle today, I truly believe in divine timing and that everything happens for a reason. These last several months have been a series of ups and downs that have challenged our relationship like never before, but have made us so much stronger and closer as a couple,” she wrote.

“I now realize more than ever how well we work as a team and how grateful I am to have you by my side in this journey of life,” Monica continued.

She then shared that the two had just moved into their new home in San Diego, and that they were looking forward to officially getting married in the summer of 2021.

“The excitement and celebration of our wedding day will be well worth the wait and next summer will be here before we know it, but for now we get to enjoy putting down roots in our forever home and making memories that will last a lifetime,” she concluded in her caption.

They originally planned on having a destination wedding, and it’s unclear if they changed other details about their big day besides the date.

Monica still works as a medium, and she published the book Messages from Above: What Your Loved Ones in Heaven Want You to Know in November of 2019.

2020 Billboard Music Awards: Make your predictions in top categories now

Published

By

Billboard announced the 2020 nominees for its annual Billboard Music Awards on September 22, and now you can make your predictions in 15 top categories here in our predictions center. So who will the biggest winners be when they’re announced on Wednesday, October 14?

Post Malone leads all nominees with 16 bids including Top Artist. This is his third year in a row in the double digits after earning 13 nominations in 2018 and 12 in 2019. But despite all those nominations his only past victory was Top Rap Song for “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage in 2018. Can he collect more hardware this time around? For Top Artist he’s up against Billie Eilish (12 noms), Khalid (12 noms), Taylor Swift (six noms) and the Jonas Brothers (four noms).

There are a few important things to remember when trying to forecast these winners. Similar to other music kudos like the American Music Awards and MTV Video Music Awards, these prizes are based on popularity. But only three awards are decided by fans voting directly (Top Collaboration, Top Social Artist and Billboard Chart Achievement). The rest are based on the metrics that Billboard uses to decide its charts from week to week: record sales, radio airplay, online streams, touring and social engagement.

It’s also important to note that these awards were postponed. They were originally scheduled for April, but while they were pushed back to October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the eligibility period remained the same. So these awards are considering commercial music achievements from March 23, 2019, through March 14, 2020. That means music released after that won’t count towards these results; Swift’s massive surprise album “Folklore,” for instance, isn’t relevant to her nominations this year, except in fan-voted categories where music listeners can consider whatever they want.

So with all that in mind, who do you think will be the big winners at the BBMAs?

Be sure to make your Billboard Music Award predictions so that Hollywood insiders can see this year’s contenders are faring in our odds. Harry Styles Says “Oh Sh*t” in Viral Throwback Video

Published

on

By

The internet somehow knew I needed a pick-me-up this week, so it worked a little magic and resurfaced a short but oh-so-sweet video of Harry Styles saying “oh sh*t.” It’s not just any ol’ “oh sh*t” though, and most certainly not the kind you exclaim under your breath after stubbing your toe or running into an ex in public. It was uttered with a certain innocent, dad-like energy that has me, and will likely have you, slamming the “play” button repeatedly to witness it on a loop.

First shared last year and now making the rounds again, the clip captures Harry interacting with a fan on the streets of Hollywood after scooping up some groceries. Said fan, who goes by Kid the Wiz on social media, delivers a dramatic to-camera intro of the “Adore You” singer and proceeds to flip his hat, making it do a 360 and land back on his head. In response, Harry lets out his effortless “oh sh*t” and a laugh before giving him a handshake. The video may only be eight seconds long, but there are so many details that need to be unpacked, so naturally, I’ve chosen to dissect it moment-by-moment in a bulleted list that literally no one asked for.

  • First and foremost, I must acknowledge Harry’s outfit. It’s giving me serious 8th grade science teacher vibes, and I’m honestly not opposed. The pleated khaki pants! The leather, tassel-adorned loafers! The sunglasses pushing back the hair! The half-zipped jacket! I’m very here for this casual grocery shopping lewk.
  • I must urgently know what Harry purchased at the store. He appears to be toting two full bags, but it’s damn near impossible to tell what’s hiding inside. Perhaps some strawberries to enjoy on a summer evenin’?
  • Please kindly direct your attention to Harry’s right thumb, which remains awkwardly raised throughout the video. Legend has it his thumb hasn’t been put down to this day.
  • I love that little glimpse at his black nail polish as he goes in for the handshake. I wonder if he’s more of an Essie or OPI guy.
  • He’s channeling the same energy I possess while pretending to be impressed by any child’s “cool trick” they want to show me. But honestly, I love him for that — he’s so darn sweet.
  • Now that I’ve watched this video upwards of 67 times, I just might have to get “‘Oh sh*t’ — Harry Styles, 2019” engraved on my tombstone.
  • It’s truly only a matter of time before the “oh sh*t”-themed fan merch starts popping up on Etsy. I’d totally buy a candle with the phrase plastered on the label.

I’ll be filing this one under “videos to revisit when I need to be reminded that not all men are trash,” right alongside Harry’s “Watermelon Sugar” music video. Now, please excuse me while I play this audio on a loop as my personal form of ASMR.
